St. George gives you the red-rock drama Utah is famous for, without the long drive to Moab or the crowds of the bigger national parks, and its mild winters make it one of the best options if you're proposing outside the busy spring-through-fall window. I haven't shot a dedicated session in Snow Canyon yet, so the gallery below uses a representative desert-toned image from a nearby southern Utah shoot rather than photos I don't have from this location. The permits, logistics, and planning advice on this page are specific to St. George and Snow Canyon either way.
Permits & Logistics for Your St. George Proposal
Snow Canyon is a Utah State Park, and state parks require their own wedding/event permit for an organized ceremony. A standard proposal (no ceremony, no officiant, just the two of you and a ring) typically doesn't require that permit, but fee schedules and rules can change. Rather than quote you a number I can't verify, I'll confirm the current requirement directly with the park before your date so there are no surprises.
Outside the state park, plenty of St. George-area desert doesn't require any permit at all, which gives us flexibility on timing. St. George's lower elevation and milder winters also mean this is one of the few spots in Utah where a red-rock proposal is realistic well outside peak season, worth knowing if summer heat or a tight travel window is a factor for your trip.

A note on this gallery: I don't yet have a dedicated St. George or Snow Canyon proposal session to show you. The image above is from a Coral Pink Sand Dunes shoot near Kanab (a different southern Utah location with a similar red-desert look), and it's clearly labeled rather than presented as St. George. If a red-rock desert proposal in this style is what you're picturing, that's what I can plan for you here; I just don't want to show you photos from somewhere else and call them St. George's. This is a gap I'm working to close with a dedicated St. George session.
