Documentary wedding photography in Ogden, Utah

Ogden Wedding Photographer

I’m Jade, an Ogden wedding photographer who documents temple sealings and Weber County receptions candidly, so your day looks and feels like it happened.

I haven’t shot a dedicated Ogden Temple wedding yet, so the photo above is a Utah temple wedding day from Orem, not Ogden. I’d rather show you a clearly labeled photo from a different temple than pass off a photo that isn’t mine to show you as Ogden’s. What isn’t a gap is my familiarity with how a Utah temple wedding day works: the timing, the photography rules, and the marriage-license logistics below are specific to Ogden and accurate either way.

Planning Your Ogden Wedding

Ogden doesn’t come with a national-park permit process to plan around: your logistics come down to your temple or venue’s own timing and your marriage license.

The Ogden Temple: the Ogden LDS Temple sits in downtown Ogden right next to the historic Ogden Tabernacle, and it was recently renovated into a modern-yet-historic look that photographs beautifully. The temple grounds include a reflection pond that’s a popular photo spot. If your sealing is here, I’ll plan portrait time around it.

Photography inside vs. outside: photography isn’t permitted inside the temple for the sealing itself. That’s true at every LDS temple, Ogden included. I’ll be right outside documenting your family and guests arriving, then your exit through the temple doors (the emotional high point of the day), followed by portraits on the grounds before you head to your reception. For a deeper walkthrough of what a temple wedding day looks like, read what to expect from an LDS temple elopement in Utah.

Marriage license: even for a temple sealing, you’ll need a valid Utah marriage license beforehand, which the officiant signs as part of the ceremony. You can apply at any Utah county clerk’s office (the Weber County Clerk serves Ogden directly), and since Utah has no waiting period, you can apply and marry the same week if your timeline is tight.

Reception venues: Talia Event Center, Le Jardin, and the Farmington Community Arts Center are all popular reception venues couples in this area pair with an Ogden Temple sealing. I don’t have a past booking at any of them yet, but I’m glad to work with whichever venue you choose and build our timeline around their rules.

Ogden Wedding Photos

A note on this page: I don’t yet have an Ogden Temple wedding gallery of my own to show you. The photo above is Orem Utah Temple, a different Utah temple with a similar candid, documentary feel, and it’s clearly labeled rather than presented as Ogden’s. If a downtown temple sealing with reflection-pond portraits and a candid, unposed reception is what you’re picturing, that’s just what I can plan for you at the Ogden Temple. I just don’t want to show you photos from somewhere else and call them Ogden’s. This is a gap I’m working to close with an actual Ogden session. In the meantime, the Utah temple wedding page has photos from six different Wasatch Front temples, and the Provo wedding page has a full gallery from a Provo City Center Temple sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ogden Weddings

Do you photograph weddings at the Ogden Temple?

I haven’t photographed a dedicated Ogden Temple sealing yet, but I know the building well. The temple you see today isn’t the one from decades-old photos. The original 1972 temple closed in 2011 for a top-to-bottom renovation that reshaped the entire exterior with new stone and art glass, reopening after a three-and-a-half-year rebuild and rededicating in September 2014. That newer facade is part of why it photographs so well. I’d love for your day to be the one that starts my Ogden Temple gallery.

Can my photographer come inside the Ogden Temple?

No, photography isn’t permitted inside any LDS temple, Ogden included, during the sealing. That rule extends to guests too: only family and friends with a current temple recommend can go inside to witness the sealing itself. If part of your guest list doesn’t hold a recommend, plan for them to wait outside with everyone else. I’ll make sure they’re in the shot when you come through those doors.

What reception venues do couples near Ogden usually choose?

Talia Event Center, Le Jardin, and the Farmington Community Arts Center are the three I hear about most. Talia (technically in Clearfield, about 14 minutes from Ogden) seats up to 360 across its Great Room and Opulent Room combined; Le Jardin in Sandy has an indoor greenhouse reception space plus an outdoor garden and gazebo, seating up to 160 comfortably; and the Farmington Community Arts Center’s main hall holds up to 300. I don’t have a past booking at any of them yet, but I’m happy to work with whichever venue you choose and plan our timeline around their rules.

How much does an Ogden wedding photographer cost?

Ogden wedding packages start at $1,850 for 6 hours of coverage and go up to $2,400 for a full 12-hour wedding-weekend package, all including complimentary bridal photos before your wedding day. Full details are on the wedding packages page.

Do we need a marriage license for an Ogden Temple sealing?

Yes. Even for a temple sealing, you’ll need a valid Utah marriage license beforehand, which the officiant signs as part of the ceremony. In Weber County, that means both of you appearing together in person at the Clerk/Auditor’s office at 2380 Washington Blvd. in Ogden (open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with valid photo ID. The license costs $50 and is good for 30 days from the day you get it, so you have some flexibility on timing relative to your sealing date.

How soon will we get our Ogden wedding photos back?

You’ll get a sneak peek within a week of your wedding, the full gallery on your one-month anniversary, and a USB drive with everything by your two-month anniversary.
