The four elopement officiants I recommend most in Southern Utah are Jenn at Wilde Heart Weddings (LGBTQ+-friendly, near Zion National Park, from $250), Thomas at Outland Officiant (adventure and hike-friendly, from $450), Erica and Becca at LoveStories (story-driven ceremonies with Spanish-language options, from $550), and Mike Foley in St. George (a comedian-turned-officiant, from $200). Which one fits depends on your budget, whether you need someone willing to hike to your ceremony spot, and how customized you want the ceremony itself.
Finding an Officiant
Congratulations, you’re planning your wedding ceremony in Southern Utah and you need an officiant to make it official! There are many options, but these are the people that I’ve found, trust, and know will be responsive and take care of you. They each have their own spin on the responsibility of an officiant and I want you to find the officiant that will align with your values and needs as a couple. A few factors I always have my couples look out for:
- Pricing: do they fit in your budget? More expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better.
- Location: some price by location, so you may find someone who is cheaper for your location simply because they live nearby.
- Values: what matters to them? Are they LGBTQ+ friendly? Are they willing to hike? How customized will your ceremony be?
- Actual service: consultation calls beforehand aren’t included in every package, neither is filing the marriage license. Check what they will do and what you will need to do for your elopement.
- Witnesses: Utah requires at least two, in addition to the officiant. See the permit glossary for the full requirement.

Now Book the Rest of Your Day
An officiant makes your ceremony official. The photos are what let you relive it, and show your people who couldn’t be there what the day looked like.
Once you’ve got your officiant lined up, the next call is your photographer. I shoot elopements across Southern Utah, from Zion to the red rock around St. George, and I’d love to help you plan the rest of the day around whichever officiant you choose.
